With Tumbleweed Tourist, you and your family can checkout fun activities in our region with your library card! Most of our passes can be reserved for a specific day using our online reservation system. Before reserving, review each attraction's conditions and operating hours. Once reserved, present your digital or printed confirmation at your selected attraction. See below for our current Tumbleweed Tourist options to choose from!


  • Since opening in 2014, the REACH Museum has become a dedicated institution in the Tri-Cities, promoting education for all ages. Experience the geological impact of the Ice Age Floods and basalt lava flows. Learn about the Manhattan Project and its continuous influence on White Bluffs, Richland, Kennewick and Pasco. Enjoy the wondrous scenery of the Columbia River and Badger Mountain.

  • The East Benton County Historical Society and Museum is dedicated to collecting and preserving the history, heritage, and culture of east Benton County. Through their exhibits and programs they share our area's rich history and its broader connections to Southeastern Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

  • Located on the grounds of a 19th-century military fort, Fort Walla Walla Museum provides an exciting and educational experience for the whole family. The Museum features a 17-building historic pioneer settlement, beautiful gardens, and five sprawling exhibit halls housing thousands of artifacts.

  • Since opening in 2012, the CPCCo Planetarium at CBC has become a family and education favorite in in the Tri-Cities, promoting education for all ages. We offer  individual tickets, field trips, and private event experiences. A typical hour-long show consists of a live presentation and a fulldome movie. Presentation topics may include solar system or constellation tours, what is visible in the current night sky, and astronomy in the news. 
  • Check the planetarium's website for the scheduled shows and start times on a given date.
  • The planetarium grants reservation access a maximum of one time per month, per library card.
  • Reservations are only applicable towards general admission to the planetarium.
  • Reservations grant admission for up to two adults and four children 12 and under.

  • Take a tour inside the historic USS Triton Sail located at the Port of Benton. USS Triton (SSRN 586) made history in 1960 as the first submarine to circle the earth underwater, following the path of explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
  • Tours take place on the third Thursday of every month and run from 9:00am - 10:00am.
  • Reservations grant access for one person. Each member of a visiting party must make an individual reservation.
  • Tours of the Triton Sail involve climbing ladders and restricted spaces.
  • Minors must be closely supervised.
  • Waivers will be provided before the tour and must be signed before participating.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for this tour.

  • The Franklin County Historical Society and Museum was originally built in 1911, one of about 2,500 of Andrew Carnegie’s library construction projects worldwide. The Museum’s functions are guided by state statutes to collect, preserve, and interpret a diverse range of objects, including artifacts, art, anthropology, and natural history. These collections represent Franklin County’s heritage, from prehistory to the present day.

  • The Yakima Valley Museum tells the history of this region, the Fruitbowl of America. It is one of only three museums in Eastern Washington to be fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and, at 65,000 sq ft, it is one of the largest cultural history museums in the State.

Come to Tamástslikt Cultural Institute and experience the storied past, rich present, and bright future of our tribes through interactive exhibits, special events and informative programs. More than just a museum, Tamástslikt celebrates the traditions of Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Tribes.

  • The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture provides an exposure to art, history and culture from our Region and beyond to over 100,000 visitors annually, including thousands of students. The museum preserves collections of more than one million artifacts and archival materials, including a comprehensive collection of art, historical objects, and textiles from this region, a significant research archive, and the largest known collection of Plateau Indian art and artifacts.

  • Sparking the curiosity of families and children of all ages through exploration, play, and the arts, and igniting imaginations through hands-on exhibits and STEAM-based activities. Mobius Discovery Center provides a unique continuum of experiential learning that cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities — foundational skills that create lifelong learners.

  • Located in The Dalles, OR, the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum is the official interpretive center for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The museum includes interpretive displays which describe the tremendous volcanic upheavals and raging floods that created the Gorge, explanations of why ice ages occur, and how the mighty Columbia River sculpted the ecology of the region for a unique and spectacular diversity of vegetation and wildlife.

  • Located in Stevenson, WA, the Columbia Gorge Museum contains unique and engaging collections from the geology that carved this region to the many cultures that contributed throughout time. Your imagination will soar with our WW1 "Jenny," gasp at a "Steam donkey" that defined the early lumber industry, and contemplate the world's largest Rosary collection, and so much more!

  • City of Richland's George Prout Pool includes an 1,100 square-foot wading pool (6 inches to 30 inches deep) and a 4,625 square-foot, 25-yard pool (3.5 feet to 12 feet deep).
  • Reservations grant access to the open swim session from 3:45pm-5:30pm on the date selected. The pool grants reservation access a maximum of one time per year, per library card.

  • The City of Richland Fitness Room is located at the Community Center. A participant liability waiver must be signed before using the equipment. Equipment is used on a first come, first serve basis. Equipment for use includes:
    • Dumbbells
    • Four-station Vectra weight machine
    • Seated step machine
    • Two elliptical trainers
    • Two treadmills
    • TRX Bands
    • Exercise Balls
  • The Fitness Room grants reservation access a maximum of one time per month, per library card.

  • Oregon State Parks offers parking permits valid for one week. This pass serves as a vehicle parking permit honored at all Oregon State Parks that charge a parking/day use fee.
  • Passes must be printed and placed on the vehicle dashboard to be valid.
  • Oregon State Parks grant reservation access a maximum of one time per year, per library card.
  • The pass is valid for parking only for up to one week after the printed date and cannot be used for camping or extra vehicle fees. See the list of parks that charge a day-use parking fee.

  • Check Out Washington is a program that allows users to check out a special Discover Pass at their local library. Library card holders can reserve a Discover Pass for a week at a time and can experience day visits at Washington State Parks or lands owned by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) free of charge. 
  • Ask for an Explorer Backpack at checkout! The Backpack includes include binoculars, compass, a Washington State Parks book, and wildlife guides.
  • Admission is a parking pass, which covers parking for one vehicle at all of the qualifying parks.
